Education & Training

Viana Turcios-Cotto, Ph.D. earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Connecticut, with a concentration in child and adolescent psychology. Moreover, she has advanced training and a graduate certificate in Health Psychology.

As an advanced graduate student, Dr. Turcios-Cotto trained at UConn Health's Psychological Trauma Clinic with renowned trauma psychologists Dr. Julian Ford and Dr. Jason Lang. Dr. Turcios-Cotto completed her year-long doctoral internship at UConn's Counseling and Mental Health Services in Storrs, CT where she worked extensively with young 

adult college students navigating various transitions in their lives. She completed a postdoctoral residency in an integrated patient-centered medical home at Community Health Center, Inc. This fellowship allowed Dr. Turcios-Cotto to gain intensive experience in community mental health including in a community health clinic in New Britain, a domestic violence shelter in Meriden, and in various school based health clinics also located in Meriden. 

 

Prior to earning her Ph.D., Dr. Turcios-Cotto earned her B.A. in Psychological and Brain Sciences and became a certified elementary school teacher at Dartmouth College. Dr. Turcios-Cotto earned her Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and taught second and third grade at a public school in Manchester, CT.
